Mulberry Leaf Tea: A Gentle Everyday Cup
Mulberry leaf tea is made from the dried leaves of the mulberry tree. It brews a smooth, amber cup with a mild, slightly grassy flavour, a gentle natural sweetness and a clean, nutty finish.
From silk farms to teacups
Mulberry trees have been grown in Thailand for generations, especially in the north-east, where their leaves are the traditional food of silkworms for Thai silk. Drying the young leaves for tea is a long-standing tradition across Asia.
What it tastes like
Mild and easy to drink, somewhere between a light green tea and a herbal infusion, but naturally caffeine free and without bitterness.
How to brew it
- Place one tea bag in a mug and pour over 250 ml of freshly boiled water.
- Steep for 5–8 minutes; a longer steep gives a fuller, rounder cup.
- Enjoy it plain, or add a few fresh mint leaves for a refreshing twist.
Serving ideas
- After dinner: a caffeine-free cup to end the day.
- Iced with mint: brew double-strength and pour over ice.
- With lemon: a thin slice brightens its mellow flavour.
